Whit Conrad ran from her home in Pennsylvania to California trying to become a new person. She had a few swift rules and meeting Deo Beckett threatens to break them. There is a natural chemistry a desire that Whit feels with Deo, but she doesn't want to cross that line, even if Deo pushes it.Deo is a bit of a surf bum, he lives in the moment and finds a pleasant distraction with Whit. She boggles his mind and if he wants to spend more time with her he has to respect her boundaries. Deo does but [...]
****3.5 stars****When Whit moved away from her home in Pennsylvania to start over in California, she wanted to tuck away her pain and repay a debt by living a life that wasn’t really for her. Her new life was simple, living in a small apartment with an easy job at a tattoo parlor while steering clear of any real relationships. But the day that Deo walked into her life was the day all of that would change, no matter how much she fought it. He may not have any real drive or plans for his life, b [...]
I honestly don't understand this re-do of an already established series. As Lengths, I loved it. Is there new content? I'm so confused.
Before I begin this review, for those of you who don't know, Hide Me is a revamped, repackaged, version of Lengths by Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt. I stalk actively follow these amazing authors on all social media, so when I found out the the Silver Strand series had been picked up by a publisher, I was not only super happy for them, but also excited to read this book again, to take a dive into the series with fresh eyes. As you can imagine, when Hide Me arrived in my inbox, my current reads [...]

*I will try to avoid spoilers.Hide Me by Lexi ScottWhit Conrad left her home of Pennsylvania for California to live in her brothers shadow. Her loss, grief, and guilt over his passing consumed her.She went to all the places he went to. She even went as far as getting a job at the place her brother received his first tattoo. One day, Deo Beckett strolled in looking to get some new ink for his birthday. The two began to talk and he walked out of the place with her design on him, a kiss, and her pho [...]
This was a good read!! I enjoyed how Deo never gave up on his love and i was a bit annoyed many times with her. but in the end, it was really sweet and nice!! enjoyable simple read loved cohen and cant wait for his story :D
DNF 23%Too insta-love-ish and moments of jealousy after knowing each other for maybe 24hrs. Had to call it quits. :(
Burn it with fire.
Hide Me by Lexi Scott is a compulsively readable summer story; I finished it in just a few hours. This is the first book in the Silver Strand Series, featuring Whit Conrad and Deo Beckett. Whit struggles to move beyond grief and guilt after the death of her brother. Deo has no clue as to what he wants to do with his life beyond surfing and hanging out on the porch with his best friend and grandpa. The two meet at Whit's place of employment, when Deo comes in for a new tattoo. Deo was gifted a ta [...]
Hide Me by Lexi Scott is book one in the Silver Strand Series. Whit Conrad is a small town Pennsylvania girl that has recently moved to California. She brings with her a haunted past and a troubled soul. She came to California to be closer to her brother, Wakefield. To the brother she so tragically lost. And with her she brought a box of pictures – and she goes to the places that her brother has taken pictures of just to be closer to him. She needs to be as near to the memory of him as possibl [...]
I received an ARC copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.I read this story and felt like there was so much more to it. It started off great. Whit Conrad ran away from home and the memories that were consuming her and making her feel like she was drowning due to her brother’s passing. She moved all the way out to sunny California, went to all the places he went that gave her peace and made her feel happier, alive again. She even went as far as getting a job at the place her br [...]
Deo in his lazy drifty way really draws you in. He has pain in his past and is so afraid of disappointing or becoming like his dad that he lives stagnant. Not willing to go forward or find himself out of fear. He drifts along and yet even with this he is just to sweet and kind and loving to want to say wake up dude! He falls in love despite not wanting to. Begins to change despite fighting it and starts to see the world as a adult no matter how hard he tries not to. How does this slow amazing tr [...]
Whit Conrad is living in her brother's shadow and retracing the footsteps of a ghost. After his death, she has mourned him and closed herself off from the world, including her parents. Moving to the sunny California town that her brother loved she follows his steps - breakfast at his favorite place, a job at the tattoo parlor he loved. Her life is mundane until she meets Deo Beckett, a surf bum who is determined to break through the walls she hides behind and get her to feel.WHAT I LOVED -HIDE M [...]
My completely unexpected new favorite romance. It's no secret that I'm not that big on contemporary romances and even less into New Adult. When I accidentally accepted a review invite for HIDE ME I was pretty peeved at myself but I went against my gut and figured I'd just give it a couple of chapters before I DNF'd it. Yeah, I went in knowing I wouldn't like it and came out loving it.Whit Conrad is terribly deep in grief and running away from any chance at happiness she could possibly have when [...]
check out more of my reviews on my blog gemmareadstoomuchHide Me is book #1 in the Silver Strands series, I was gifted a copy of this book to read from Gemma Reads Too Much.I read the blurb for this book and thought this sounds like my cup of tea. Sea, sand and romance, happy days!!! I did think that it sounded familiar but I never gave it much thought, once I started reading it I realised that it sounded familiar because I had read this book under its original title of Lengths.I really enjoyed [...]
The full review can be found at Bookaholics Not-So-Anonymous.Note: This ARC was provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.I quite enjoyed this book and liked how Deo and Whit seemed like opposites but were somehow experiencing the same "lost" feeling. Whit is running from her life and leading and re-living one that isn't truly hers while Deo is just standing by as life passes him by. Whit's guilt and grief are getting the best of her and has forced her to become someone e [...]
Whit Conrad and Deo Beckett meet at the tattoo shop where she works. He was given a birthday tattoo by the owner, who is dating his mother. Whit is not interested in a relationship and wants to put Deo off. The attraction is strong, however, for both of them.Whit is living in a cloud of guilt and grief that has brought her here to California. Deo takes her to the beach and introduced her to things in life that everyone should know. Like how to surf, how to enjoy the beach, how to trust a hunkDeo [...]
Rating: 3.5/5Deo is a surfer, currently unemployed, who loves his hippie Mum and fantastic grandfather. For his birthday his Mum arranges for her boyfriend to give him another tattoo. When he goes to the tattoo parlour to decide on an appropriate design he meets Whit who is running scared but not admitting it. Recent turmoil has left her with many issues. The two are attracted but there are lots of things for them to work through for them to find their HEA. I daren’t write more or I’ll be gi [...]
First, let me say I feel a little torn and confused by this book. I think the reason for that my overall feelings on it was just--meh, it's okay--when I feel like I should've really liked it. Honestly, I had planned on writing this review by first covering the things I really liked about the book, following it up with things I disliked, but I feel like I can't even do that. I wouldn't recommend this book, necessarily, but I wouldn't not recommend it either. Does that make sense? It was an okay. [...]
Hide me is the story of Whit and Deo. Whit is running away from home in Pennsylvania to California to start her life over where no body knows her. It's time to repay a debt thats not really hers. She's living the simple life surrounded by walls and short flings. When Deo walks in, things are going to be thrown off their axis. Deo is a surf bum. He's all for living in the moment and no strings with Whit is working just fine for him until it doesn't. He's slowly breaking through her walls and find [...]
I didn't really know what to expect from this book but I was pleasantly surprised. This story is full of misunderstandings, secrets and angst but it works! It was interesting to see the characters grow and overcome their many obstacles. This is an enjoyable novel with wonderfully described characters and emotions. Ms. Scott's writing style makes the reader feel as if we are actually there with the characters. The descriptions are so vivid and realistic. The secondary characters are colorful and [...]
I really enjoyed this one! Whit is definitely a troubled soul. After losing her brother in the war, she is filled with guilt and regret over her role in his being there in the first place. Deo just seems a bit lost. No real direction or drive has him unemployed and living with his aging grandfather. When these two meet the attraction is immediate and intense but the issues they are dealing with may be too much to overcome.I thought the writing and story were decent and would definitely recommend [...]
***This ARC was received from Entangled Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review***I really relate to this story. My relationship of 15 years is alot like this, back and forth over and over again. I love that eventually they realize what they are doing wrong and go about fixing themselves instead of trying to fix each other. You have to love yourself before you are able to fully love another.
Whit Conrad and Deo Becket have both suffered losses and need a push to figure out what direction to take. A journey of forgiveness and redemption. Can they come together with all the secrets between them? Will they discover that love can only happen if they can forgive themselves and find room in their heart?A great start to a fresh series.
Whit left home to get away and Deo is a sufer adrift with nothing on the horizon a chance meeting at Whits job and its off and running. They are wonderful together and wouldnt mind reading more
To me, it was the same story as the old book. Nothing new or exciting.
Review to come during blog tour.
