I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Briana Lawrence's "Treat Me Kindly"; I enjoyed it so much that I bought it too. (Yay! Support authors that you love and tell them about it too.)After a rock star is found dead, Detective Alex Sampson finds embroiled in a case where the cause of death points towards an extinct animal; in the basement of a high-profile business, an exclusive auction invites society's elite to purchase themselves a rare animal that suits their exclusive lifestyle; a young [...]

This is not my comfort zone nor my usual type of read. With that said, however, it is such an interesting story and so well written that I could not put it down. Lawrence is a masterful writer and, if the pressures to write more about this story in subsequent novels do not push her to produce on deadlines, will build a series worthy of keeping together on your "must keep" shelf whether your usual read or not. I intend to follow her closely for many years to come.

I read this on a recommendation. I don't usually go for shape shifting stuff, but I decided to let that go and just enjoy it. I thought the plot was clever, unusual. Although, I've always thought birds were a little iffy. I really liked that the characters represented all kinds of folks, gay, straight, whatever. Most importantly, they weren't a distraction or a cliche. This was a perfect summer, poolside read.

This book is definitely for the over 18 reader, and should not be read by the easily offended, politically correct crowd or those who do not have a taste for erotica. There are so many things I could write about this novel, but many of them would be spoilers, so I’m going to have to pick through the book and try to write this review as best as I can without giving anything away. The plot is a breath of fresh air in the over saturated genre of the supernatural which currently is full of ‘spark [...]

*I received a free copy of this book from the author through Paranormal Fantasy Dystopia and Romance Readers Writers and Reviewers Group in exchange for an honest review*Sorry, but I just didn't like anything about this book at all. I was under the impression that this was a supernatural crime novel with sexual content but it seems more like erotica with a bit of police work and a few shapeshifters. There is constant sex and sexual violence which adds nothing to the plot for me and the way it is [...]

Birds, cats, dogs and butterflies - everyone is familiar with pets, after all we spend our lives with them. These aren't those pets. These are the pets that shouldn't exist and can only be found at an underground auction for the right price, and the kind that you probably shouldn't be taking home, but it's just an animal, right?Shape-shifters are common in the urban paranormal genre, but these 'pets' are different. While most in the genre explores the world of humans who gain animal qualities, B [...]

A cop, the sidekick, the cops sister,a slew of unhealthy people, and lets not forget exotic animals that have killer instincts. Invitations have been sent out to a charitable event where the money made from it will be given to help save animals. Dead people start turning up who have been killed by rather bizarre means. There is no evidence to point to just one person. Detective Alex Sampson and his trusty side kick Nick Nack will have to be on their toes for this one.I absolutely love the concep [...]

First and foremost let me begin by stating that I received a free copy of the book from the author. Thank you. I loved the idea of this book; it was a breath of fresh air. The story plot was one I had not read before, and was looking forward to it. The author did a great job of creating a very vivid picture for us. However, my major disappointment, is that the ending felt a bit rush and implausible. I like the twist, but how could he not know she was not his sister? He was old enough to remember [...]

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest opinion and unbiased review. I gave Treat Me Kindly a high 3.5 and here is why:I liked Treat Me Kindly but I didn’t altogether love it, it was a unique storyline that spread across a wide range of genres. It is a mystery, Crime, Supernatural based plot that was really well written and Briana Lawrence did a great job at taking a few storylines and entwining them them into one.The things I didn’t like abut the book would have to be the ch [...]

I want to start off by saying I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Overall I liked this book it had a very interesting concept that the author handled very well. There were times where the book was extremely graphic and it was a little difficult for me to stomach the violence, but I did. I really don't have any complaints about the book except that the violence took me by surprise and the level of violence that was in the book was just not appealing to me. Other t [...]

I was a bit uncomfortable with some parts of this book but was lucky enough to be warned that there were distressing parts by the author when I purchased it. Overall I really liked the book. A little awkwardly written once and a while, but still very good. I liked and hated the characters when needed, and felt true empathy for some. This is not for the faint of heart, but if you're brave, check it out.
